My treatment was amazing! It was complicated (post radio therapy for throat cancer) and as well as pre dentist nerves I was a little knocked about from the cancer treatment. Ash was so understanding, patient and gentle - and I ended up with a better smile than I had in the first place!! Thank you.

The treatment was exceptional and painless. I was dreading root canal because it normally takes hours. Ash did it in less than an hour and the results in the X-Ray were perfect. Very clean clinic, and Ash is very nice and patient. And he's on top of his technology, which is awesome. Highly recommend.

HIGHLY recommend if someones looking for an experienced endodentist!!!! Only got round to writing this but i had a crown on a severely damaged tooth. Came all the way from Leicester to have it done. Really impressed with the work. Had my teeth cleaned at my regular dentist last month and even he commented on what a terrific restoration job it was as it was a complicated case to begin with. Both dr reddy and his nurse were wonderful, couldn't thank them enough for the help. would make them my regular dental practice if i lived in london!

What is Endodontics?
Endodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with diseases of the tooth's pulp and the tissues surrounding the root of a tooth. The pulp, containing nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue, is essential for the tooth's development and health.
When the pulp becomes inflamed or infected due to deep decay, repeated dental procedures, or trauma, endodontic treatment (root canal therapy) becomes necessary to save the tooth. The goal is to remove the infected or inflamed pulp, clean and disinfect the inside of the tooth, then fill and seal it to prevent further infection.
When is Endodontic Treatment Necessary?
Common Symptoms
- Persistent tooth pain or sensitivity
- Pain when chewing or touching the tooth
- Sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures
- Discoloration or darkening of the tooth
- Swelling and tenderness in nearby gums
Causes Requiring Treatment
- Deep decay reaching the tooth pulp
- Repeated dental procedures on the same tooth
- Cracked or chipped teeth
- Trauma or injury to the tooth
- Large fillings close to the pulp chamber
The Single-Visit Revolution
One of the most significant advancements in modern endodontics is the ability to complete most root canal treatments in a single visit. Thanks to improved technology, techniques, and materials, approximately 95% of root canal treatments can now be completed successfully in just one appointment.
Benefits of Single-Visit Treatment
Reduced treatment time and fewer appointments
Immediate pain relief and restoration of function
Less time away from work and daily activities
Reduced risk of contamination between visits
Improved patient comfort and convenience
Faster return to normal chewing and function
Understanding the Root Canal Treatment Process
Modern root canal treatment is a comfortable and painless procedure that can save your natural tooth. With advances in anesthesia and technology, most patients report minimal discomfort during and after the procedure.
1. Diagnosis and Treatment Planning
The process begins with a thorough examination, including digital radiographs and possibly 3D CBCT imaging. Your dentist will discuss the diagnosis, treatment options, and what to expect during the procedure.
2. Anesthesia and Isolation
Local anesthesia ensures the treatment area is completely numb. The tooth is isolated with a rubber dam, which keeps it dry and free from saliva during the procedure, ensuring optimal conditions for successful treatment.
3. Access and Cleaning
Using a dental microscope for enhanced visualization, your dentist creates a small access opening in the tooth. The infected or inflamed pulp tissue is carefully removed, and the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned and shaped using specialized instruments.
4. Disinfection and Filling
The cleaned root canal system is disinfected to eliminate any remaining bacteria. Once completely clean, the canals are filled with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha, and the access opening is temporarily sealed.
5. Restoration
After the root canal treatment, your general dentist will place a permanent restoration (usually a crown) to protect and strengthen the tooth. This final step is crucial for the long-term success of the treatment.
